Celebrating something I have never done or never intend to do seems silly, but I have seen it happen so here goes. The things people try in their spare time never cease to amaze me and sword swallowing is definitely one of those things. Who in their right mind would ever think that this would be a good idea?! Maybe "frat boys"?? Or drunken fools back in the 1800's? Either way today is more about celebrating living on the edge I suppose. Yes, on the surface it is about sword swallowing and the crazies that do it, but for those of us who consider wearing a new color as a risky move, then today can take on another meaning. I have a hard enough time swallowing an Advil so that will be how I celebrate National Sword Swallower's Day. Bye!

February 25th-"Be Quiet Day"
I wish today would have been a more exciting day to celebrate considering it is a Friday... BUT- I am sick with a mean cold so today was a perfect day to celebrate being quiet. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you this is not something I am good at. Ask my poor mom who is stuck at home with me and she will definitely agree. I can't help that I have so much to say. Luckily for me though I have done todays holiday justice and have been pretty quiet (for me at least)! This is also a good excuse if someone asks you why you are on facebook tonight and not out, just tell them it is quiet day and they should leave you alone! A little quiet time never did anyone wrong, so relax and enjoy quiet day! You're welcome!

February 24th-"National Tortilla Chip Day"
What a great day! I am a junk food queen, so any holiday that allows me to indulge is a good holiday. I am so thankful that I am living today and not 50 years ago, because back in the day the only kind of tortilla chips were plain tortilla chips, and the dipping selections for these plain ol' chips lacked any specialty. Today you have pretty much hundreds of possibilities to choose from whether it is between brands or flavors you know you will get the exact kind you are wanting. Even if you choose plain you then have the choice between hundreds of dipping options! What a life! I must admit that I really enjoy authentic Mexican restaurant chips. You know, the ones that are loaded with salt and then complimented with homemade salsa. YUM! As far as chips that you buy at the grocery store go I am partial to "Spicy Nacho Doritos!" So whether you like the authentic or the generic enjoy a chip today! Happy tortilla chip day!

February 23rd-"International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day"
This holiday is somewhat close to my heart being that I love my dog! My dog is a handful though and most of the time doesn't really deserve a dog biscuit (any of you who know my dog probably don't understand why I even keep her around). I still plan on celebrating this day to the fullest considering it is an "international" celebration. The more I think about it the cooler this holiday becomes... it gives you an excuse to love your pet even more than you already do and doing so without the judgement of non-dog owners. Did I mention that my 55lb boxer/lab is sitting on my lap while I type all this?? Pretty ironic. I am just glad that someone out their has enabled me to spoil my dog and thus giving me an excuse for the day. With all that said I think it is clear that this day is more about appreciating your dog, and the biscuits that make them happy. Have a good day everyone!

February 22nd-"Be Humble Day"
So if I was given the choice I would never have done such a "deep" holiday for my first blog celebration, BUT It was this or George Washington's Birthday. So this is what you are getting! I would like to say that I am a pretty humble person. I am humbled every time I read the news, or see anything sad happen to anyone, because frankly-nothing truly awful has ever happened to me. Sure life can get a little rough but I am always quickly reminded that I am so lucky to live the life that I do. Next time you find yourself crying about having a bad day at work, you should think about the Chilean miners getting stuck underground for 69 days. The next time a "snow bird" almost gets you in a car accident think about the roadside bombing in Pakistan that almost killed 3 soldiers yesterday. Happy "Be Humble Day" everybody!
FIRST POST!
Hello there! First off I am Taylor, and I have wanted to blog for a long time now... the only problem was that I didn't have much to blog. I am a 21 year old, sort of student, and a barista. Pretty typical, and sadly not at all interesting. I am not married (although I am in a happy relationship of four years now) and I really am just living a normal life. So if I did a blog about my life it would be,
1. Absolutely boring
2. Not very eventful
3. Just like every other blog
BUT... I have finally brewed quite the nifty idea for a blog and with much deliberation I bring you...
"EVERYDAY'S A HOLIDAY"
Cheesy right? Please don't let the title fool you! I am no motivational speaker, or a God heals all type of person I am however kind of clever and everyday someone, somewhere is celebrating something! Look at my blog to open your eyes, have a good laugh, and have an excuse to have a party, or a happy hour. Everyday truly is a day to celebrate not just because you are living, but because its "National Bunsen Burner Day," or "Defy Superstition Day!"
With all that said welcome, and enjoy! :]
